Gain valuable practical experience during your degree by treating patients at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and undertaking internships at top companies.

Having educated more than 1,400 veterinarians over the course of 20 years, the UAX Veterinary Medicine Degree is renowned in the sector for providing students with comprehensive experience-based training. 

Our students have the advantage of training at the UAX Veterinary Teaching Hospital, a unique 7,000m2 facility where over 9,000 patients are treated every year. 

In addition to developing their skills with state-of-the-art simulators and cutting-edge medical technology, they join the veterinary team and have  the opportunity to deal with cases in different animal species, obtaining a multidisciplinary approach in the different specialities: surgery, neurology, traumatology, internal medicine, sports medicine, emergencies, etc. 

To complete their training, students undertake external internships at food technology companies, different livestock farms and relevant companies and associations such as Faunia, ONCE Guide Dog Foundation, Royal Canin, Colvema (Madrid Veterinary College), Anicura, FAA (Help the Animals Foundation), etc.

Our training is so appropriate to the sector, that 96% of our graduates find work in under 6 months after completing their degree.

Information about the Veterinary Medicine Degree

Veterinary Medicine Degree Syllabus and Subjects

At UAX, we aim to develop your full potential so that you can identify, diagnose, prevent and cure diseases in pets, wild and farm animals.

Your training will be based on direct contact with experts who practise on a daily basis, providing you with an up-to-date overview of the day-to-day veterinary profession. As part of your preclinical internships, you will join a real veterinary team at our Veterinary Teaching Hospital, where we treat more than 9,000 patients a year.

You will also gain knowledge of professional values, such as clinical skills, communication skills, animal health, information management, critical analysis and research.

Furthermore, throughout your training you will stay up to date with the most current issues in the veterinary industry, such as gaining an understanding of zoonosis prevention, studying how to achieve maximum performance in agricultural holdings, and mastering the important aspects of food inspections and health checks, among others.

Facilities and Methodology

At UAX we train students from day one to be hired by the most relevant companies and clinics in the veterinary sector:

  • Our innovative curriculum is adapted to the needs of the market, both at a clinical level and in the different areas of the veterinary industry.
  • 50% of the credits are of a practical nature and from the first year, we focus on experiential learning. In order to gain the necessary skills, knowledge and abilities to manage pathologies in patients, you will practise at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, both in test and simulation environments, as well as with real-life patients. You will also do internships at the campus laboratories and at more than 70 companies with which we have agreements.
