Learning of the necessary techniques used in different programs for computer-assisted design and drawing, such as Autocad. 2D drawing will be emphasized due to its importance in plan designing. Students will learn how to work with different scales and create cell drawings. Finally, they will be introduced to 3D design.

Description:
Students will analyze important works of the English literature, dealing with different genres (theatre, poetry, novels, etc.). These works are now of paramount importance from a cultural and linguistic point of view (Shakespeare, Salman Rushdie, etc.). Lessons will be taught in English; therefore, students must have passed the subject English IV.

Description:
This subject consists of practising activities aimed at improving fitness and physical conditioning, and providing students with the basic knowledge which is necessary to design their own physical conditioning programs. Hence, they will be taught the key elements of Physical Conditioning and Fitness: the training of muscular toning up with the help of muscle exercising workout machines; and the cardiovascular resistance by doing aerobic exercises and stretching in order to develop flexibility. The subject will be taught in the University’s sports facilities.

Description:
An enterprising spirit is a key element in employment creation, competitiveness improvement and economic growth. In this regard, the basic aim is to provide students with the skills needed to understand business initiatives, and to introduce them to the implementation of new business projects (planning, choice of the legal person, administrative and legal procedures, current legislation, articles of association, etc.).The methodology will be a combination of theory and practice with the help of computing tools. The teaching of this subject has been the result of a collaboration agreement between the University and the Business Training Institute belonging to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Madrid).

9587 - Prevention of Risks at Work. Basic Level back

Description:
In this subject students will learn how to carry out functions, at a basic level, related to risk prevention at work, under article 35, Royal Decree 39/1997. Safe behaviour, protection and the correct use of equipment at work, as well as the interest and cooperation among employees in preventive action will be boosted. On the other hand, students will assess risks, and take preventive measures according to different situations. Finally, they will be able to help in case of an emergency, and give first aid.

A theoretical and practical course introducing students to Coaching, where they will have a grounding in this discipline which is rapidly gaining in importance. This subject focuses on people's potential in order to improve their potential, as well as the models used for people management (leader’s coach). In other words, coaching will be regarded as a way of management, and as a comprehensive development, both at a professional and personal level, within a business environment.

The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of our present world by taking into account the past, particularly the 20th century; and to enable them to interpret the world with a sharper sense of judgement.We shall explore trends and changes, causes and consequences, the historical events of the past century and how they have shaped our present world.To accomplish these ends, students will be dealing with the following topics:The aftermath of the First World War; the Treaty of Versailles; the failure to maintain peace during the Second World War; the Russian Revolution and the Soviet Union; the Cold War; the collapse of the Soviet Union and its consequences; the Chinese Revolution and the Communist China; the USA; the Great Depression; the Second World War; Korea and Vietnam; the Decolonisation and the Middle East.

Description:
Students will implement their knowledge of German in situations related to work, research and, above all, business. They will acquire the German linguistic skills needed for business communication. In order to improve their speaking and writing (Lesen und schreiben), they will be working with specific texts (letters, reports or contracts related to projects). Regarding the oral comprehension and expression (Hören und sprechen), students will be speaking regularly by using combinations of the following: a) answering questions and playing roles in different situations (telephone, meetings, fairs, etc.), b) taking positions and arguing those positions in class, c) debating topics related to business, d) making formal and informal presentations, e) engaging in or analyzing oral expression processes.Furthermore, students will learn the basic vocabulary used in Engineering, related to Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and applied to given practical context. This course is essential to carry out the future profession in the business world.

Description:
This subject tackles the main international questions related to the English language. The aim is to develop the skills which are necessary to analyze and discuss different current international issues in a language other than Spanish. Students will gain an understanding of international relations from the beginning of the 21st century, by deepening the information gathered in newpapers. Thus, they will learn the basics of general cultural as well as the most important challenges for the international community. Topics such as the peace and the study of the United Nations, the analysis of the main international questions will be considered: human rights, international terrorism, regional problems (EU, Near East, Russia, Colombia, etc.). To sum up, students will become competent in discussing in English; thus, they will voice a critical and open view on current international events.

The programming methods CPM and PERT will be used. Within this context, students will learn the trinomial time-quality-price by optimizing both the resources available and timing. Lastly, they will be able to monitor the cost control during project execution. The subject will be taught with the help of a computer.
