In its urge to encourage inter-university co-operation, the European Union
has started the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). This system is based on
the principle of mutual trust among the higher teaching institutions which
accept and acknowledge the education that students can follow abroad- to be more
exact, in the different EU and in the EFTA countries.
ECTS is an instrument
which facilitates and guarantees recognition within European Universities.

The main aim of this informative document with the ECTS breakdown which appears
at the end is to guide the student and his co-ordinator in the elaboration
of a syllabus which will adapt in the best possible way to that education
received in the student’s university of origin. On the other hand, general
information given on the following pages will help no doubt with the arrival
and stay of the student who is interested in taking part in this exchange
