Degree in Tourism

Presentation

The Tourism degree at UAX is organised over four years to provide broad-based business management skills with special relevance for the tourism industry, equipping students to enter tourism-centred professions and giving them access to a wide range of public or private companies or institutions.

At UAX

In the first year, students study basic subjects such as Introduction to Economics or Administration of tourism companies.  In the following years they study sector-specific subjects. In the fourth year all the knowledge acquired is put into practice in the Practicum and the final degree project. Optional subjects include Human Resources, International Tourism, etc.

Lecturers

The teaching staff consists of tourism sector professionals with an average professional experience of more than fifteen years, and more than ten years teaching experience. These professionals also regularly take part in tourism innovation and development courses in all areas of the sector, enabling them to share the latest knowledge with their students.

Practical Training

The Tourism laboratories enable the knowledge acquired in theory classes to be put to practical use, such as managing reservations, hotel management, interacting with wholesalers, etc.  Our internal practical work is based on practical cases and situations, where students develop the skills demanded by the employment market.

What makes UAX different

Students get to know the tourism industry from the inside, taking part in study trips relating to the degree, and visiting tourism institutions, where they are guided through the different departments and explore how they work. Students can undertake internships in industry companies that partner the University, acquiring valuable professional experience.

Employment Opportunities

Tourism graduates can work in tourism companies, from hotel chains to restaurants and leisure centres, take part in the creation of new tourism infrastructure, manage hotel and tourism accommodation operations, manage restaurants, act as intermediaries in transport and logistics, and work in the planning and public management of tourism destinations, products and activities.
