Degree in Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering

Presentation

The Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering degree at Alfonso X el Sabio University is structured over four years, training engineers who will work in the application of electronic technology to industry and the development of numerous automated systems in manufacturing, computerised process control and optimisation methods.

At UAX

During the first year students study basic engineering subjects. In the second and third year, students are taught subjects common to this branch of industry such as Materials, Circuit theory, Thermodynamics and Heat Transmission, Fluid Mechanics, Material Resistance, Industrial Electronics, Automation, etc.

In the final year, students study technological subjects specific to industrial electronics and automation, such as Power Electronics, Control Techniques, Industrial Automation, and other optional subjects in this speciality. 

Facilities

One of the most used laboratories in this degree is the Automation and Robotics lab, where students can do practical work with robots. This familiarises them with the principles of automatic control systems, the design of controllers for continuous control systems, discrete control and real time control systems.

Lecturers

The teaching staff consists of doctors, physicists, chemists, mathematicians and especially industrial engineers, who combine teaching and professional experience.

The degree is taught by highly qualified professionals, many of whom work in some of the most important companies in the sector, such as Gas Natural, Unión Fenosa, Endesa, Metro de Madrid, Repsol, etc.

Unique Features

Alfonso X el Sabio University has educational cooperation agreements with companies such as General Motors España, S.L., Hewlett-Packard Española, IBM Global Services España, S.A., Robert Bosch España, S.A., etc.

Every year UAX Upper Polytechnic organises University-Company Technical Symposia in which representatives of important Spanish and international companies introduce students to the technology applied in their most innovative projects.

Technical visits are also organised to companies and state organisations such as INTA and the Operation Control Centre of Red Eléctrica de España in Tres Cantos.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates are qualified to design circuits on the  computer (basic devices for industry and automation), develop the control and automation systems which will be essential for building the factories of the future (robots which transport, weld, assemble, etc.), develop the electronic systems needed in such current concerns as renewable energies, and develop industrial instrumentation and control systems.
